The main idea of this partnership is to encourage elder people to engage in the life of society and to enrich their daily lives studying and helping those who need it, both through their work and life experience. The main goal is to give a new sense to their life, a sense that they lost because of retirement or job loss and as consequence, their withdraw from public life. It is proposed to achieve it promoting idea of European elders volunteer and making them feel important and useful to devote their free time to people who need help: children, adolescents and adults in a difficult situation. There will be some workshops about the methods used in volunteering organized. They will visit social services centers, pre-schools, orphanages in every country and they will see how they work and how and with which methods do the volunteers work in this places. In pre-schools they will have to work and stay with small children in order to cultivate intergenerational collaboration. They will see how the international volunteering work is and also, they will work out their own method of volunteering. The most difficult part will be communication via Internet (use of e-mail,Skype,Blogs,websites,Facebook, etc.) during the program. All classes will be related with key competences. They will have to learn much in order to communicate will their international colleagues and to know what are their grandchildren and the pre-school´s kids talking about. It will be a great opportunity not only for elders but for youth, too. They will profit thanks to elders life experience and will create a passion for being volunteer and helping people. Both of them will learn about European Union and its culture. This knowledge will help them to understand better European reality.

 

CONCRETE OBJECTIVES:
- Encourage elder people to volunteer and to enrich their "day-day" learning new things and helping those who need it, both working and gaining experience,
- Give a new meaning to the existence of elder people who as a result of retirement or job loss withdrew from social life,
- Promote the idea of European voluntary service and achieve that elder people feel important and useful to devote their free time to people who need help, children, and adolescents and adults in a difficult situation,
- Enrich the skills of young volunteers with life experience of elder people and to create a passion for helping people
- Expand its computer knowledge, new technologies, social networks and so on, in order to improve their understanding with young people and do not depend of them daily,
- To teach them English as a very useful language to communicate, both during the project, to travel and simply to expand the horizons
- To teach the characteristic elements of the culture of the participating countries with the intention that they understand and integrate better, both during the project and when finished.

During the partnership there will be many problems solved. The first objective is to encourage people to get involve into the social life, enrich their existence and give them guidelines how to help people effectively. To achieve it there are many tasks planned. Nowadays elder people do not have topics in common with their grandchildren. They finished their studies many years ago and did not follow informatics and technology progress and they do not know what to talk with their grandchildren about and what do they do in their free time. Learning English, TIC, knowing social networks, blogs and website´s use, etc. they will have more self-confidence spending time with their grandchildren, teaching them, playing with them and supervising their ways to spend free time. It is important for them to feel useful and be able to do things that normally are destined to young people. Thanks to the actions of volunteering they will not spend their free time at home watching TV and feeling useless as a result of their retirement or job lost. It is important to give them an opportunity to work and to help people. Doing it they will learn a lot and help to those who need it. They will open their mind to the world, to other cultures and will see many places without even go out. They will be happier.
